What are Planter Warts?I found out that planter warts are similar to everday warts, except they appear exclusively on the sole of the foot. Planter Warts can produce a whole lot of pain when pressure is applied. This can make the simple act of walking a positively excrutiating event.. Planter warts are caused by viral infection. The nasty little virus sneaks into your feet through cuts so small so as to avoid detection. Planter warts can spread quickly--on your body, as well as to others. Nothing will give you a good reason to fear public showers or walking barefoot like a good bout of planter warts. Can you hear your mom yelling at you to put something on your feet? These nasty little things can grow so big that they’re not so little. An inch round plantar wart is a big nasty thing. Even worse, they can spread into what’s called a mosaic ... imagine your feet breaking out with a hideous pattern of warts like acne on an unfortunate teenager. Ugh!

It is often misspelled. Lots of folks think that it’s Planter Warts, but it’s really Plantar, not Planter. The fancy name is varruca plantaris. Plantar refers to the foot. Not sure where folks get the planter idea--other than that it's a common mispelling ... Perhaps planters who plant barefoot in the garden? Put some shoes on, already!
